Compatible watches and phones
RawPace needs a watch with Wear OS 5 or later and GPS, paired with an Android 8 or later phone. We list only the watches we’ve tested. It doesn’t work with iPhone.
The ones we’ve tested
| Watch | System | Memory | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel Watch 5 | Wear OS 7 | 3 GB | Fully tested |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch7 | Wear OS 6 | 2 GB | Fully tested |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch4 | Wear OS 6 | 1.5 GB | Tested by a tester |
| Google Pixel Watch 3 | Wear OS 5 or later | 2 GB | Tested by a tester |
| Xiaomi Watch 5 (global version) | Wear OS 6 | 2 GB | Tested by a tester |
Memory is each watch’s catalogue figure. On Wear OS 5 and 5.1, the app has only been tested on the emulator.
Galaxy Watch4: the first time you open the app, accept all the permissions it asks for before starting your first activity (see Watch permissions).
Galaxy Watch4 and “Always use the watch’s GPS”: on one tester’s Galaxy Watch4, with that setting on, the GPS gave very few positions, so the activity had no distance or pace. Leave it off (Sports › Running › Advanced › “Always use the watch’s GPS”), which is the default. We’re looking into it.
What each level means
- Fully tested: we use it every day. Every version goes through it before release, on real outings and on bench tests.
- Tested by a tester: someone has used it on real outings with a released version. It works, but not every version goes through it.
No barometer
If your watch has no barometer, the app works the same; elevation comes from GPS and is less accurate, and vertical speed isn’t shown.
Your watch isn’t listed?
If it has Wear OS 5 or later and GPS, Google Play will let you install it, but we haven’t tested it yet. Write to [email protected] with the model and how it went: that’s how we learn which watches work. If something goes wrong, send a diagnostic from the app too (see Sending diagnostics).
Google Play doesn’t offer the app to watches with Wear OS 4 or earlier, or to watches without GPS.
